Starting isn’t hard. Being seen starting is.

It’s been a minute, but I’m so excited to reconnect. The mic has been my home lately with The Emanuel | DrEG3 Podcast, and as I reflected on my very first episode, I realized something:
Starting wasn’t the hard part.
Being seen starting was.
If you caught Episode 1 of The Emanuel | Dr EG3 Podcast, you already know how this all began: a mic, a message, and zero polish. No intro music, no fancy setup — just me deciding that waiting for perfect was costing me time, growth, and purpose.
That’s what I call a hot-mess beginning.
And honestly, that’s where every breakthrough starts — in motion, not mastery.
So, let’s talk about how you can start your own “hot mess” — and why it’s not just okay, it’s essential.
The Power of Starting Messy
|
Start A Hot Mess!!! What if the very thing holding you back... is the fear of being a hot mess? In this powerful first episode of The Emanuel | DrEG3 Podcast... podcasts.apple.com |
In the episode, I said:
“We don’t want to look silly, sound unprepared, or feel like we’re fumbling through. But here’s the truth: we all start out as a hot mess. That’s the entry fee.”
We think our fear is about failure, but it’s really about visibility.
We’re not afraid to try; we’re afraid to be seen trying.
Starting messy gives you permission to practice publicly — to move while learning, to grow while showing up. When you accept that progress is noisy and imperfect, you take back power from fear.
Courage isn’t “I’m ready.”
Courage is “I’ll figure it out in motion.”
This Week's Bold Question:
"What dream have you been polishing instead of pursuing?"
Maybe it’s that business idea, a new fitness routine, a creative project, or a tough conversation you’ve been avoiding.
Write it down — and then ask: what would happen if I started anyway?
Strategies to Move Through the Mess
Here are a few high-performance shifts to help you step forward — even when you feel unready:
- Start With What You Have.
In Episode 1, I recorded with what was in front of me — a basic mic and an idea. The magic wasn’t in the tools; it was in the willingness. - Let “Practice” Replace “Perfect.”
Remember my line from the show: “This isn’t polished — it’s practiced.” Every repetition builds clarity. Don’t chase perfect; chase progress. - Expect the Awkward.
Messy beginnings are supposed to feel clumsy. The discomfort isn’t a warning — it’s proof that you’re becoming. - Anchor Yourself in Purpose.
I didn’t start the podcast to impress; I started it to serve.
When purpose drives the process, perfection loses its grip.
Amplifying the Lesson
In coaching and in life, I’ve learned this truth repeatedly: every time you start something meaningful, resistance will meet you. Not because you’re unqualified — but because growth always challenges identity.
That’s why I reopened my monthly coaching and 12-week high-performance program. I want to help people navigate the messy middle with focus, structure, and grace. If you’re in that “almost ready” season, this might be your invitation to move forward with support. I know you have big dreams and goals, and I want to help prepare to step into 2026 with passion and vigor.
Because clarity doesn’t come before action — it comes because of it.
Closing Thought
Every masterpiece began as a scribble.
Every confident speaker once stumbled through the first take.
Every dreamer who made it started with one shaky step forward.
So, start your hot mess.
Show up unready.
Be willing to be seen in your becoming.
